Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair, will soon visit Valletta on her inaugural voyage to Malta. Logos Hope visited Malta in the beginning stages of her renovation; now, five years later, the transformed vessel returns to Malta to share new opportunities with visitors of all ages.
Because of many improvements made by over 3,500 volunteers, the ship has been outfitted for unique service. In addition to hosting the book fair, the Logos Hope crew also offers community service projects and rich cultural experiences to each country it visits.
Logos Hope offers an expanded selection of over 7,500 books at affordable prices. They cover a range of subjects including science, sports, hobbies, and family life. With children’s titles, academic texts, dictionaries, atlases and more, the book fair is something the whole family can enjoy. Additionally, the rest of the fully air-conditioned Visitor Experience deck is also open for the public to explore. From the Welcome Area, which introduces the new vessel through a short movie and interactive displays, to the International Café, which has ice cream, drinks and snacks for sale, there is sure to be something for everyone.
The all-volunteer crew and staff is composed of around 400 people representing 45 different nations who offer a unique example of unity in cultural diversity. Logos Hope is operated by GBA Ships e.V., an international, charitable organisation registered in Germany. In almost 40 years of service, the organisation has welcomed 40 million visitors up the gangways in over 160 countries and territories around the world.
Logos Hope will be arriving at the Grand Harbour next Tuesday, 28 September, where it will be open to the public on Wednesday 29 until Sunday 17 October at Valletta Waterfront. The opening hours are as follows: Wednesday (29 September) 12noon to 10pm; Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am to 10pm; Sundays and Mondays 2 to 9pm. On 15 October the ship will not receive visitors. Entrance is free but donations are welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
