Another decline in spending on newspapers and magazines

The amount spent on newspapers and magazines has fallen for the 2nd year in a row, after a steep increase in 2007, according to the National Statistics Office.
People spent a total of €26.6 million in 2009 – an average of €66 for each person or €0.18 a day.

In 2006, the total was €23.5 million, but this shot up to €29.8 million in 2007, when some prices were raised before Malta joined the euro. It fell to €27.5 million in 2008.

People spent a total of €3,992 million in Malta in 2009 – and their spending on newspapers and magazines represents 1.42 per cent of this.
