Bronk Productions has published another book of plays by playwright Joseph Vella Bondin under the title Ħitan bil-Moffa. The plays, winners of important literary prizes and both performed, are Awstralja and Djarju ta’ Tmiem Ħajti.

Awstralja, in two acts, was awarded third prize in the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts Contest, Premju Francis Ebejer 2007 (Category B: Produced Works) and was premiered at Teatru Manoel on December 1, 2007 by Bronk Productions and directed by John Suda.

The radioplay Djarju ta’ Tmiem Ħajti, first broadcast by Rediffusion Cable Radio (Malta) on 13 ta’ September 13, 1961, won first prize in the 1960-61 Radioplay Contest organised by Rediffusion (Malta) Ltd.

A foreword by the author and a stimulating study by John Suda introduce the plays. The book is available from Bronk Productions (Tel: 21223347; 99406258) and book-selling outlets.

Joseph Vella Bondin is one of Malta’s leading playwright. His many credits include Meta se Jisbaħ? (Teatru Manoel March1993); Zerafa (first prize 1996 University Radio Radioplay Competition); Għidli, Missier, jekk il-Gwerra Spiċċatx (Malta Broadcasting Authority Best Radioplay for the Year 1999); Kamikaze, (TV Malta June 2000); Kull {ie] u Glorja (first prize Department of Culture 1999 National Drama Contest Premju Francis Ebejer, staged at Teatru Manoel in October, 2000); Dawk li fuq l-Iġfna Jbaħħru (Malta Broadcasting Authority Best Radioplay for the Year 2002-03; Is-Sur Mastru, Bella, il-Professur, u Progetti Oħra (St. James Cavalier, Valletta, October 2003).

Other collections of his plays were published by PIN, Malta, 1999 under the title Labirint tas-Sejjieħ: Erba’ Drammi and by Klabb Kotba Maltin, 2006, Is-Sejha taz-Zmien: Żewġ Drammi.
